Simon Belmont (referred to as Simon Belmont II in order to avoid confusion) is both a vampire hunter and famous movie actor from the 20th century. He is the descendant of the original Simon Belmont who defeated and sealed Dracula away 400 years prior. While shooting a movie about his ancestor's adventures in the ruins of Dracula's castle, Simon accidentally broke the seal that was placed on the Vampire Lord. Dracula kidnaps Lucy Lane (an actress who plays Simon's fictional lover, Mina) and it is up to the new Simon to defeat him.
Trivia
- Akumajo Dracula: Kojyo no Shitou retconned the events of the orginal Castlevania as one of the movies that the new Simon starred in; this plotpoint was not included in IGA's offical timeline.
- Because Castlevania, Vampire Killer, and Castlevania Chronicles all hint that the events of the games are actually just movies (the intro from Chronicles with the intentional "old-movie-look" for example), it's possible that the protagonist in those games is actually the new Simon, shooting a movie about his ancestor's adventures but this is most likely not intented by the developers.
