Renon is a demonic salesman from the 19th century and makes an appearance in both Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness and Castlevania 64. He may seem to have no ill intentions at first, but his true motive is revealed when 30,000 gold pieces or more are spent in his shop.
Being a salesman, he naturally sells items, but his stock is relatively small compared to most merchants; healing items, sun and moon cards, and items that restore certain conditions, like poison. Renon's shop can be accessed at several points in and around the castle, and requires that the player pick up a contract to summon him.
Story
Renon always saw the suffering of mankind as an opportunity to gain profit. He habitually appeared in man's darkest hour and sold his goods to those unfortunate enough to encounter him, as the deaths of millions were good for business.
When the world once again longed for the revival of the Dark Lord, Renon traveled from the underworld to Dracula's Castle, where he looked out for possible clients. Several heroes traveled to the castle in order to thwart the plans of evil and the demon salesman gladly offered them his services. If the heroes would sign the contract they were offered, Renon would supply them with all types of helpful items to take along on their quest. Furthermore, Renon promised to come to their aid any time they found another one of his contracts laying about.
The contract Renon offered to these heroes proved for many to be their downfall and they would eventually discover the horrible truth: there was a clause in the contract, but it was written in an ancient demonic text no man besides the salesman himself was able to read. According to the contract, those who had spent 30,000 gold pieces or more had committed the sin of greed and had to pay the price with their soul.
Renon would then reveal his true demonic form and drag them to the underworld. However, some of these travelers proved far stronger than him and he was sent back to the place where he came from. Despite his defeats, he would return to the world every time the demise of mankind was drawing near.
